How it works: Define your column dimensions and build a purification protocol step by step. Add steps with column volumes (CV), enter only the flow rate (linear or volumetric) or the residence time. The calculator computes volumes, flow rates, and step times. Use the chemical database to add buffer components — molecular weight auto-fills for instant mass-to-weight conversion. The green/red buttons allows you to add or remove components for each solution/buffer. The component totals table shows the total mass of each component required for the entire protocol and per cycle.

Process Time
Formulae
Vcol = π × (ID / 2)2 × H
Volume = CV × Vcol · Residence = (H / Flow) × 60
Step time = Residence × CV · Process time = Σ Step time / 60

Formulae
Weight (g/L) = Conc (mol/L) × MW (g/mol)
Amount / cycle = Weight (g/L) × Step Volume (L)
